Bushcraft & Survival

Bushcraft & Survival

In a nutshell
A chance reinact your scout days, Crocodile Dundee fantasies and caveman hankerings without people being able to laugh and point!

CampfireTell me more!
Made more popular by the Ray Mears series of TV shows (and if you don’t know who he is, you must already be living under a bush!), bushcraft and survival skills are a great way to escape your usual comfortable life and get back to basics. You can decide how much you want to ‘rough it’ and this makes it suitable for adults, families and groups to take part, using natures resources you can spend time surviving yet thriving!

Survival KnifeThe stuff you need
You may want to try out a day or weekend with someone who already has experience of surviving in the wild as they will have knowledge and the basic kit. As a guide, a rucksack, sleeping bag, tarp, fire lighting kit, cooking gear, knife, water bottle, head torch, map and compass will get you started – don’t forget food and water as you want to survive your first survival!

CampingCool things you can do
Bushcraft and survival encompass a huge array of skills and many of these are found in magazines, websites and courses. Activities ranging from firelighting, wild food, camping, navigation, first aid and knife skills to name but a few can be taught or finely honed to enhance your enjoyment of the great outdoors. Courses and events are held around the country which introduce you to general bushcraft and survival, generally over a day or weekend. Learn specialist skills such as bow making, drystone walling, knife making, wild cookery and flint knapping.
