Camping

Camping

In a nutshell
A great excuse to swap your namby pampy lifestyle for an uncomfortable bed, burnt food and a half mile walk to the toilet, enabling you to impress your friends about your ‘green credentials’ and being ‘closer to nature!’

Tell me more!
Camping as a pastime can give you the ultimate freedom to get up and go and take a short break at a moments notice. From a small, practical two man tent to the luxury of a fully equipped family caravan, camping can be as basic as you choose or a home from home experience in totally new surroundings.

The stuff you need
Depending on the size of the party involved, you may just want to dip your toe into the world of camping to see if it suits everybody’s taste! A tent is a good place to start price wise and this can be upgraded in size and luxury as the mood takes you! A camp trailer, motorised camper, towing caravan or static are frankly more luxurious ways to get you closer to the outdoors lifestyle without sleeping on grass (nature’s carpet!) Suitable bedding, lighting, cooking equipment, clothing, toiletries and first aid are among the investments needed to ensure a happy camping experience and a relative level of comfort!

Cool things you can do
There are varying types of camping locations which offer a range of experiences and levels of comfort. Recreational camping offers home comforts including electricity and gas, showers, toilets, laundry facilities, on site shop and perhaps a bar or club. Festival camping may include many of the above facilities but are likely to be less luxurious due to the number of people they need to cater for! Primitive camping is popular with people who enjoy combining it with another outdoors interest such as hiking, cycling or canoeing and offers simpler surroundings compared to the types above. Wilderness camping can be viewed as an extreme form of camping and is often associated with outdoor pursuits like rock climbing or caving. The pleasure comes from being totally self sufficient and surviving on your own wits and rations!
