News: Joe Simpson "Touching The Void" At The Show29th January 2010

Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, Sir Ranulph Fiennes has had to cancel his attendance at The Outdoors Show 2010. However, we are delighted to announce that Joe Simpson, of “Touching the Void” fame, has very kindly agreed to take his place at the show.

In 1985, Joe Simpson’s ascent and following near-fatal descent on the 6,344-metre Siula Grande in the Peruvian Andes entered mountaineering legend.

Joe’s book recounting the story of his battle for survival, Touching the Void, became an award winning international best seller, and in 2003 the film of the book won the BAFTA for Best British Film.

For the first time since the release of the film of “Touching the Void”, Joe will speak publicly at The Outdoors Show about what happened in the Peruvian Andes, when the rope suspending him above the crevasse was cut and his life or death struggle ensued.

Joe will be available after his talks at the show to sign his books which will be available to purchase.
